I wrote a review last year about Firstrend’s 1080p security camera system but today we are having a look at their upgraded kit, the Firstrend 5MP Wireless security camera system.

This kit includes four 5MP outdoor IP cameras and 1 NVR with a pre-installed 2TB hard drive. The cameras have an IP66 rating so you can place these cameras out in the rain without any problems. They can of course also be used indoors. And this is a wireless security system not a Wire-Free system, which means each camera needs to be connected to a power outlet.

They are then connected to the NVR using WiFi and it works without a internet connection. If you want remote viewing you do need to connect the NVR to your router. And by doing that you can use an App to watch live view and access playbacks from anywhere.

They don’t have spotlights so the cameras can’t record in full color at night instead they use infrared lights with a distance up to 65ft. And they do have a microphone for recording audio but not a speaker so you can’t talk through the cameras.

Something that will help reduce false alarms are the Human face detection. It basically means the camera can tell the difference between humans and other moving objects.

The NVR comes with a 2TB pre-installed hard drive that should last for quite some time before it starts to overwrite old recordings.

I’ve read many of the reviews on Amazon and many of them are very positive. It seems like people really like how easy it is to install, it is plug and play system, which means the cameras has already been paired so all you need to do is connect them to the NVR. I would recommend connect all the cameras first before you mount them, just to make sure they all work.
