Ezviz CTQ3W EzGuard Outdoor WiFi Bullet Camera Review

Ezviz is a brand started in 2013 by Hikvision with a goal to bring more innovative tech to more people with their intelligent devices, cloud-based platform and AI technology. We decided to buy and test one of their cameras, the Ezviz CTQ3W (also known as ezyguard) outdoor Wi-Fi bullet camera which is a smart camera with some pretty cool features.

The camera we are reviewing today comes with a 2.8mm lens (4mm is available as well) and it records in 1080p. It has 2 antennas and the WiFI range is around 50ft between camera and router. The main features of this camera is the strobe light and the built-in siren, which can go all the way up to 100db which will probably scare away any intruders.

It supports up to 128 GB MicroSD card for local storage and as with most security cameras these days they offer their own cloud storage as well. The cheapest cloud subscription they have I think is around $6 a month for 7 days of storage or $60 if you pay for a whole year.

Since this is a so-called “smart camera” you need to use the Ezviz app which you can download to any smart device or to your PC.

It also has 2-way Audio so if you want to talk to your pet or the delivery guy when you are away from home you can do that as well.

In the box you get a quick installation guide, a drill template, a Thank you card with support email and phone number, some screws with anchors, a waterproof cable connector cover, a power adapter with a 6ft cable, and of course the camera.

To get the camera up and running you should first connect the power cable then head over to the google play store or App Store depending on what device you using and install the Ezviz app while the camera is booting up.

When the app is installed and you have created a new user account all you need to do is click “add device” scan the QR code on the camera and add your wifi. You can of course use this camera with a wired connection as well if you prefer that.

When you are connected to your camera you can start tweaking the different settings in the app. For example, you might want to change the image quality to the highest setting which is called Ultra-HD.

Another important setting is in Alarm Notification and after you turn the slider to on you can change where on the screen you want motion detection to be activated. You can also change how sensitive you want motion detection to be between 0 and 6. At 0 motion detection is off and at 6 even the smallest movement will trigger the camera.

In the Sound Mode settings, you can change between Mute, Soft, and Intense. Other than that there aren’t really that many settings in the app. From the home screen, you can easily click on Alarm to activate it and if you want to talk through the camera, you click on Speak to do so.

Is it worth buying?

Yes, I think this camera is worth checking out if you are looking for an affordable outdoor Wi-Fi camera with sharp image quality and good night vision capabilities with built-in siren and strobe lights. Since it is a smart camera it would be perfect for someone who already has a smart home and wants to increase security.
