Ezviz C8PF Dual Lens PTZ wiFi IP Security Camera Review
So this is Ezviz’s latest outdoor pan and tilt camera and what’s unique with this camera is that it uses two lenses. One 2.8mm wide angle lens and one 12mm telephoto lens which give a more narrow field of view. Between the two lenses, you get 4 times zoom but since it also has 4x digital zoom you get a total of 8 times.
And the camera will record with both lenses at the same time so you will have two different recordings, one for the 2.8mm lens and one for the 12mm lens. This means you can have a picture in picture display so you can view both lenses at the same time in live view. And same when you watch playbacks you got two different recordings one for each lens, which is kinda nice.
The only drawback is it will use more storage but since the camera only records in 1080p it’s not that bad. And you can have a massive 512GB micro SD card in this camera.
The image quality in the daytime was OK, nothing amazing but at night I think it was really good. And what’s nice with this camera is if you place the camera correctly you can use the 12mm lens to identify people even at night while the 2.8mm records everything else going on.
So overall I really like the Ezviz C8PF and compared to the Ezviz C8C that I reviewed some time ago this camera feels more premium. The build quality is better on this camera, at least that’s what it feels like. And same as the c8c you can mount the camera either on a wall or on a ceiling.
So the camera records in 1080p at 15fps and you can Pan the camera 340 degrees and Tilt 80 degrees. For motion detection, you can use normal motion detection which means it will trigger by any movement or you can use Human detection which means it will only trigger based on the shape of a human. And I think it worked just fine. You can also set a detection area and line cross which is kinda nice.
It does not support preset points or patrol.
So when the camera detects motion it will send you an instant push notification to your phone using the Ezviz app. You can then view the recordings directly in the app from playbacks saved on the SD card. And you will have one recording for each lens. If you want you can also use their cloud service but that’s optional. And as I said before this camera supports a massive 512GB Micro SD card.
It does not support ONVIF but you can view the RTSP stream and I tested it using VLC player. And this is a WiFi camera but you can also use a wired connection for more stability.
It also supports 2-way audio so you can talk and listen through the camera…..you can also use an alarm when the camera detects motion with different sounds and intensity
For night vision the camera uses 4 infrared lights with a distance of up to 30 meters. And I think the image quality at night was surprisingly good.
This camera is made for outdoor use with an IP65 rating which means it should be waterproof I spilled some water on it for a while and it worked just fine after. The working temperatures are -30 to 60 degrees Celsius.
OK, so what we get in the box is the camera, power adapter, quick start guide, waterproof connector cover, drill template, and a bag with screws.
So on the front of the camera, we the two lenses, 4 infrared lights, an indicator light, and the microphone. On the bracket, we got the speaker and here on this cover, we got the reset button which you can access without having to open the cover. And if we remove it we got the SD card slot here.
So connecting to the camera is really easy, you can download the Ezviz app from either Google Play store or app store. When you have the app open, tap on the plus icon to add a new device, then the cameras scan the QR code on the camera and follow the on-screen instructions. That’s it.
Here on the main screen, we got the two streams from each lens. This is the 2.8mm wide angle and this is the 12mm. And I can zoom by tapping here. You can turn off picture in picture display down here if you don’t want it.
This area is playbacks and you can switch between cloud and SD card. So if we tap here on the timeline, down here we can switch between the two lenses, wide angle or zoomed in.
And down here we got snapshots, records, PTZ controls, talk, picture-in-picture, image quality, and rearranged the menus.
Up in the top right corner, we will find the camera settings. I will quickly show the most important one.
In alarm notifications, we can turn notifications on or off set what motion detection we want, turn on the alarm, set notification schedule, set motion detection area, line cross detection, and the motion detection sensitivity.
In storage status, I can check the SD card and turn it on or off 24/7 recording. If you have it on or off the camera will only record when motion is detected.
