Anran 2 MP WiFi IP Bullet Camera Review
Anran is a Chinese brand selling surveillance systems and security products. And in this review we are taking a closer look at one of their top-selling Wi-Fi IP camera.
This is a 2-megapixel camera with an image resolution of 1920×1080. The standard lens is 3.6mm but 6 and 8 mm is available as well. Our camera is using a 3.6mm lens. It does have a SD card slot and it supports up to 64 GB.
The camera is weatherproof and has a night vision range of up to 30 meters. It has Auto White Balance and 3D Digital Noise Reduction which will help get better image quality in low light.
And of course, it has motion detection and by downloading an App to your smartphone you can get instant notifications when motion is detected. It supports P2P which makes it really easy to set up on your smartphone.
The camera has an all-metal body that seems very sturdy and should have no problem withstand the elements.
To access the SD card slot we need to remove the three screws on the back of the camera and by doing that we can open up the camera and insert the SD card slot on the motherboard.
The camera is using loop recording which means when your SD card is full it will automatically delete old recordings and replace it with the latest. A 64 GB sd card should be able to store between 8-12 days of recordings.
To use the camera with your smartphone you need to install an app called Danale which can be downloaded on the Google Play Store or App Store. After you install the app you need to create an account and log in, now all you need to do is click add device and log in to your wifi.
After you have installed the SD card into the camera you need to go to advanced settings and format your SD card first before you can start using it.
The problem I have with this camera is if you don’t use the cloud service, which by the way is $5 per camera per month is that when using motion detection and you get a notification on your phone you can’t watch it directly, instead you have to manually playback the video on your SD card to see what triggered the camera.
And if you use the camera without an SD card or the cloud service you can still get notifications when motion is detected but then you need to manually start recording in live view which isn’t a good solution and the subject that triggered the camera might already be long gone.
I would recommend you use an Anran NVR together with this camera.
Is it worth buying?
If you only need one camera that is easy to install I think you should look elsewhere. However, if you buy this as a complete security system I think it is a good deal since it is very affordable and gives you decent image quality and features for the price.
