Annke 8MP 4K Outdoor Turret IP Security Camera Review
If you are looking for a 4k turret camera to monitor your home or business then this camera might be worth checking out. This camera comes from a company called Annke and of right now it sells for around 110 dollars on Amazon.
Overall I think this is a good camera. It does have some nice features, like 4k recordings for example, unfortunately, it can only record 4k at 12.5fps so it won’t be the smoothest recording when something moves.
But you if go down to 1440p instead, it can record at 25fps, which makes a big difference in my opinion, and I will show you a side-by-side comparison in the video down below.
The camera is made for outdoor use and has an IP67 rating, which means it’s waterproof and dustproof and has a working temperature between -30 and 60 degrees Celsius. It supports H.265+ video compression and up to 128GB Micro SD card.
You can use it as a standalone camera or with any existing system as long as your NVR supports ONVIF. You can also use it with any software that supports ONVIF like BlueIris for example.
I connected the camera to ONVIF Device Manager without a problem but you do need to activate ONVIF on the camera which you can do in the web interface.
You can also access and control the camera from the Annke APP and get instant push notifications when motion is detected. I think the APP worked just fine, however, its a little more work to set up compared to so-called “smart cameras” since you need to activate and link the APP and the camera in the web interface.
It uses a 2.4mm lens and unfortunately, it doesn’t have a microphone or a speaker. The camera and bracket are made of metal and feel really sturdy. It’s easy to adjust the camera and you can place it either on a wall or a ceiling. And to access the SD card slot, we need to open up this cover. Here we will also find the reset button.
In the box, we will find the camera, Quick Start guide, drill-plate, a CD, weatherproof connector, and a screw kit. Unfortunately, it comes without a power adapter or a Ethernet cable.
To access the camera, you first need to activate it, which you can do either by a Web Browser, SADP Software, or the client software. The default IP address of the camera is 192.168.1.64 which you need to change to one that will work within your network.
And the easiest way is to download the SADP tool and search your network for the camera. Here you can activate the camera, set a password, change the IP address, and turn on DHCP which means it will automatically assign an IP address for the camera that will work within your network.
Now we can for example access the camera through a web interface by typing the camera’s IP address in the address bar of your browser. The default user name is admin and the password should be the one you selected when you activated the camera.
In the configuration, we got all the settings. And if you are familiar with Hikvision cameras then you will recognize this web interface. In Video/Audio, we can change the resolution, video quality, frame rate, Video encoding, and turn on or off H.265+.
If we go to an event, then the basic event we can enable motion detection and set where we want motion detection to be activated.
We can also set a schedule and in linkage, we can select how we want to get notified when motion is detected.
To set the camera to record to the SD card we need to go to storage, then storage management, and then first format the SD card. When the status is normal, go to schedule settings enable it, and set up a recording schedule.
In advance, you can select overwrite which means when the SD card is full it will start deleting the old recordings and replace it with the latest. You can also set how long before and after it should record when motion is detected.
To link the camera and the Annke app we need to go to, Network, Advanced Settings, and then Plattform Access and enable Annke vision. After you have downloaded the app, click on add camera scan the QR code on the camera and just follow the instructions in the APP.
And if we go to Integration Protocol, we can enable ONVIF.
