Amcrest 5MP POE Security Camera System Review
Amcrest is a popular brand when it comes to home security but the question is, how good is the Amcrest 5MP POE Security Camera System? Is it worth buying and what features does it offer?
This security camera system from Amcrest comes with 4 POE bullet IP cameras and one NVR with a already installed 2TB hard drive. And the model number for this system is NV4108E-IP5M-B1186EW4-2TB. Amcrest have been around for a long time and they have earned quite a good reputation overall.
The cameras uses a 5MP sensor that records in 2592 x 1944 at 30fps and they have a 2.8mm with a wide 103° viewing angle. Supports AI detection, which means the camera can tell the difference between a human and other moving objects.
This will help reduce false alarms a lot. You can also set detection zones and adjust the sensitivity of each camera. Unfortunately the cameras do not have a microphone to record audio.
You can also put a MicroSD card in each camera for backup if something would happen to the the NVR. Can use up to 256GB SD card. For night vision they use infrared lights with a distance up to 98ft. And these cameras are made for outdoor use with an IP67 rating which mean they are weather proof. They also have Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) to brighten up areas that are dark.
This surveillance system is using POE (Power Over Ethernet) so each camera only needs one Ethernet cable from the NVR for power and data, that’s why POE system are very popular since the amount of cables needed to install a system like this is minimal.
When reading the reviews on Amazon, the biggest complaint is that they don’t record audio which I have to agree is a bit disappointing. Otherwise people like it, especially the image quality.
